Created in 1998, the awards pay tribute to efforts that focus on promoting Manitoba as a quality year-round destination, ensuring exceptional visitor experiences and fostering a professional tourism industry.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada, October 28, 2008 - Despite global economic turmoil, Manitoba's tourism industry is forecast to close out the year with an increase of 2.6 per cent in expenditures and 2.7 per cent in overnight visits, announced Hubert Mesman, Travel Manitoba's President and CEO, at the organization's third annual general meeting held today.
"The fact the Manitoba has enjoyed growth, despite a significant decline in U.S. same-day and overnight travellers, speaks to the strength of our industry and the province's ability to attract visitors to our world-class experiences," said Mesman.
